June 2007:
Nu Phoe Refugee Camp
It was difficult to drive from Maesot to Nu Phoe Refugee Camp (Umphang District, Thailand) during rainy season in June. The bad weather condition made the mountain road with 2199 curves much harder to travel. We started our journey from Maesot at 5am.
Upon arrival, we had the “best” breakfast at Nu Phoe Refugee Camp. There are approximately 15,000 refugees in this camp and only approx. 90% of these refugees were supported by the United Nation.
We began with our meeting with the Chief of Nu Phoe Refugee Camp and other committees
Visit to P.A.B. Basic High School Education – a school for 350 children. This group of refugees (more than 1000 refugees) is not supported by the United Nation. The school buildings were funded by ZOA.

Meeting with the P.A.B. Basic High School Education’s Committee.
Donation from the H.E.A.R.T. Foundation to P.A.B. Basic High School Education to build a library, equip new classrooms with furniture, teaching materials, medicines, basic sports equipments and other schooling needs for the students.
Karen Youth Organization (KYO) Orphanage in Nu Phoe Refugee Camp – A home for 60 orphans (30 boys and 30 girls).
Group photo - KYO Orphanage’s children with Siew Ngan and Maung-maung. Only 30 children were UN refugees. In June 2007, 60 children were sharing basic necessities of the 30 children. The H.E.A.R.T. Foundation had donated some basic necessities such as stationeries, schooling needs, mosquito nets, hygiene products and medicines to the orphanage. We hope to provide food aid to the KYO Orphanage in near future. Join us, help the children. ?
